the big brother.

he is such a great big brother to this little sister. He plays with her, he reads to her. He loves to get hugs and kisses from her. today as they were walking back from our fun day at the beach, she fell. after that he made sure someone was holding her hand. all the time.

(i wonder how we can get him to feel that way towards a certain little brother?)

this boy.

played his last baseball game as a Ku-Ring-Gai Stealer. They won 5-3. Jonah was MVP of the game. he pitched GREAT. It was happy/sad. We will miss being Stealers!!!!!

He wears a lot of hats.

Matt had to be the umpire at the Stealers Game on Friday night. It is funny to see him playing as the ump in addition to being the coach and Jonah's dad. He had to wear a lot of hats at that baseball game (and they won! no thanks to Matt :)
(When I showed Matt the photo he said to mention on the blog that he called that a strike HA! and yes, it is Jonah hitting/jumping out of the way)

Bronze medal - YAY!

10-4 Jonah was walked, hit a double and a triple. Matt said the coaches made a few errors in sending kids however the kids played great. Sounds like the team was back to their old selves which I'm sure was an encouraging way to end the National Tournament.

We have had a great time here for the past 5 days just being laid back (If you've ever been around Matt you know what I mean!) and having only 3 children is easy peasy :) however we miss our big boys and are looking forward to having them home tomorrow.

Happy Queen's Birthday - it is a national holiday here tomorrow :)

They lost. 4-5

Jonah ended up playing - he took some zyrtec and felt a little better. Thanks for your prayers, I guess I should have asked you to pray for no errors in the field (there were 4 big ones!) and an umpire making the right calls (3 bad ones). Tomorrow the team will play for the bronze medal.

The bright side of this is now we can make our plans for our trip to America in July.

Thanks for all your support, it has meant a lot.

The Flu.

The children and I went for a walk this morning and when I returned I had a stressed out message from Matt saying Jonah has the flu. I tried to call but they are playing the game right now. Can you please pray that Jonah will get better by tomorrow and that noone else will get the flu?

ugh what a blow.

Thanks for your prayers, I will update when I find anything out.

Game 3: 11-1

Jonah pitched the last inning, 8 pitches to close the game. They have yet to pitch their top 3 pitchers - they are saving them as they obviously haven't needed them yet. The team is in the quarter finals and tomorrow the real games begin . . .

I will keep you updated!

Game 2: 10-0

They are winners of bracket #1.
Tomorrow they play the losers of bracket #2.
Brackets #3 & #4 are playing each other.
Saturday and Sunday the winners play.

His first at bat Jonah struck out (Matt wasn't happy about that) his second at bat he had a hit that was caught and his third at bat he hit a double that brought in 2 runs.
Matt said he played perfectly in the field.

I'll keep you updated as to how they go on Friday!

Game 1: 32-0

I'm a little antsy to be home in Sydney while the Little League Team is playing - I'm biting my fingernails down to my knuckles!

Here is the scoop: The first game went well(for our team anyway - I feel kinda sorry for those ACT boys) Jonah hit a double and a single driving in about 4 or so runs. All the boys got a chance to play, and it sounds like some of the kids who have only pitched a few times did awesome! Lots of home runs and 9 pitch innings. The one girl on the team pitched well and hit two home runs. I'm sure this was the weakest team they will play but it has to have been a good warm up anyway.

Next game is in another hour or two - I will update you then :) (whether you want me to or not!).

The Big Day!

Matt and Jonah arrived safely to the Gold Coast yesterday for the Australian Little League National Championships! Today they have their first two games. There are 12 teams in the tournament and they are in 4 groups of 3. I will update later about their results!

Everyone is super excited. They looked so professional leaving in their new jackets with "Little League NSW Champions 2009" embroidered on the front.

Poor Bella :(

After our trip two weeks ago where we made the grueling one hour climb to the top of Uluru (the world's largest monolith and an Aboriginal sacred site and Australia's most famous natural landmark). I had to take Isabella to the Dr.
IMG_7513
Isabella complained quite a bit about her ankles and knee hurting during the climb (and had been complaining previous to this trip) but she made it to the top! When we got home she was really complaining so I took her to the Dr. and now she is not allowed to do gymnastics for 3 weeks! She has achilles injuries in both legs and a hurt knee on one side. This photo was taken right after the climb and I guess you can tell by the look on her face that she was unhappy - poor Bella :(

Little League State Championships

Little League 09 JT hatLittle League 09 JJhigh5dadMy creation
We had a very exciting weekend! Matt & Jonah's Little League team are competing in the NSW (New South Wales, the state in Australia we live in) State Championships. The tournament is a double elimination. On Saturday the team won both games and on Sunday they won against last years State & National Championship Team (14-0!). The other 3 teams with 1 loss each now play to determine the champion amongst them and then our team will play whoever that is. If Matt & Jonah's team win the game on April 29th then in June they will head to Queensland for the Australian Championship.
Jonah had lots of big hits in all the games and his fielding has been great! It is getting really exciting watching this team & Jonah do so well!

shot put & javelin??

and he huffs

and he puffsand he blows the house down!
Jonah qualified to try out for the Knox Track & Field Team to represent the school at the Private Schools State Championships in Shot Put and Javelin. Jonah placed 6th in Shot Put and FIRST PLACE in Javelin (for his year!) Now he will train and try to learn how to actually throw a javelin and hopefully improve his throw. I guess he threw it like a baseball, but hey - it worked!

Basketball Season Finale!

34-12Free Throw.
Jonah's team won the premiership - which means they were Best in State! for their level (The schools "B" which means they were the second best team - There were at least 10 teams) Jonah had a great time and scored 4 points - and made both free throws!
